The READY movement was started by, and is led by Y+, with support from the Frontline AIDS and other partners to show that young people are ready and want to be involved in the HIV response on a much bigger scale.
Strengthening the leadership skills of new leaders remains critical to our HIV response.
To achieve this GNP+ and the International HIV/AIDS Alliance are collaborating to pilot an individual capacity and leadership development programme for young people living with HIV: The Y+ Fellowship.
The Y+ Fellowship is a 6-month fellowship programme for current Y+ Board members who wish to strengthen their knowledge and skills in specific areas related to the HIV response, whilst supporting the work of the Y+ Board and programmatic activities around adolescent health within GNP+ and the International HIV/AIDS Alliance.
The programme involves extensive travel and includes a series of online and offline trainings on technical and programmatic aspects as well as mentorship from professionals working in the subject matter.
READY+ aims to empower young people living with HIV by providing them with access to information, safe spaces, integrated HIV, sexual and reproductive health and rights, psychosocial services, and policy platforms to achieve the change they need to live full and healthy lives.
READY+ is a 4 year programme in Southern Africa, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Maputo, and led by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance in partnership with Y+, AFRICAID/Zvandiri, AIDS Legal Network (ALN), Coordinating Assembly of NGOs in Swaziland (CANGO), Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+), M&C Saatchi World Services, Paediatric AIDS Treatment for Africa (PATA), the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI) and Tanzania Council for Social Development (TACOSODE).
